Jazz Age Party from The Sartorialist

Posted in Fashion by Megan Do on July 22, 2010

This series of photos from The Sartorialist made me smile:

I’m fascinated by and love the look and style of fashion from 1920-1970 and to see it today makes me happy.

Tommy Ton Street Style

Posted in Fashion by Megan Do on June 23, 2010

Lately, I’ve been obsessed with Tommy Ton’s street style photos at GQ. He has photos from all over the world but his recent photos from Milan are my favorites. With Cannes Lions and European Fashion Week going on at the same time, there are loads of attractive, well-dressed people walking the streets of Europe and it’s his job to capture their unique style. This is his freakin’ job–traveling the world and taking pictures of good looking people.

Wall Street Journal Magazine has done a great profile on the J. Crew’s CEO, Mickey Drexler. This is the same genius who turned Ann Taylor and Gap around. Definitely worth checking out.

What Atlanta hipsters carry in their bags

Posted in Art, Fashion by Megan Do on June 14, 2010

Photographer Jason Travis’s ongoing project, Persona, takes a look into native Atlantan’s bags to see who they really are. It’s a simple, interesting and creative way of profiling people without asking them any questions. Below are a few of my favorites, check out Travis’s Flickr set for more.

J. Crew Timex Vintage Field Army Watch

Posted in Fashion by Megan Do on June 8, 2010

Alright, I gave in. I bought my first watch. I’ve wanted a watch for a very long time but making big purchases takes me a really long time. I research, I read every review I can find, I spend hours a day looking at pictures and I visit the wevbsite a couple hundred times, making it all the way to the checkout page and then quitting after realizing that I’m about to spend one paycheck on one item. You’re welcome J. Crew, your number of site visits probably doubled thanks to me. And all of this is for a freakin’ watch! I can’t imagine what buying my first car or house will be like.

I decided to get the J. Crew Timex Vintage Field Army Watch. After seeing it on a couple blogs I read, I had to have it. It’s simple, classic and casual–the perfect every day watch, which is exactly what I was looking for. The best part is that J. Crew has a variety of different band colors to choose from so you can make the watch work with pretty much any outfit.

Isn’t it beautiful?

Take Ivy

Posted in Fashion by Megan Do on May 30, 2010

The GQ Eye and The Trad posted scans from an out-of-print Japanese photo book that captured 1960’s style on Ivy League campuses and lucky for us, the book is being reprinted in English in September. I was instantly drawn to the simple, preppy, casual look and surprised to see that many of the trends in the 1960s can still be seen on college campuses today. Below are a few of my favorite photos:
